SPEC2SITE: The full story

The construction industry is modernising fast, and efficiency gains need to be found everywhere. At a time when expenses are rising, value engineering in construction can be the way to complete a project on time and to budget.

Key to doing so are tools which give you a complete view of a project and show how each area can contribute to the project as a whole.

SPEC2SITE is a new proposition which captures our full offering from specification design to job site installation. We believe we can be our customers’ best partner across their workflow, but in the past we haven't had a simple way to communicate everything we can offer.

SPEC2SITE brings project specifiers, designers, contractors and installers together to get everything done as efficiently as possible.

How does SPEC2SITE work?

SPEC2SITE improves every step of the construction workflow by connecting design specifications with the jobsite, to enable precise installations.

It covers structural connections, MEP support systems, fire protection and more to deliver value across the project.

The four key elements of Spec2SITE are:

·        Higher performing hardware matched with the right design methods

·        Design software and design-related services

·        Digital content for on-demand and live learning through our Engineering Centre

·        On-site support through our direct sales and engineering teams

Georgina Booth, Northern Europe Product Manager at Hilti, says: “With SPEC2SITE we've created a brand that lets our customer understand the full value of working with us from specification to jobsite.”

“If a customer adopts our SPEC2site solutions in the design stage it means working with us to ensure their specifications are higher performing, value engineered, bringing them more peace of mind, and helping them be more sustainable.”

“If a customer adopts our spec2SITE solutions in the installation phase it means working with us to help their installation be faster, safer, simpler, and more sustainable”

“Put simply, we want to help make our customers work be more productive, safer, and more sustainable.”

What does that mean in practice?

SPEC2SITE is a new level of value engineering in construction. It lets you improve your workflow by connecting the design to the job site.

By using pre-determined components, you can optimise your project, save money and reduce waste at all stages. We make this happen for our customers using our leading innovations in hardware, software, and approvals.

High performing anchors

We provide you with a portfolio of chemical and mechanical anchoring solutions that have been approved across a wide range of loading and job site conditions. They are designed to:

·        Bear high static and seismic loads

·        Work in cracked concrete indoors and outdoors

·        Help eliminate spinning issues with anti-spin expansion cones

Faster, simpler, safer

We provide a range of tool solutions which make working on site faster, simpler and safer – saving you time and money on the job, for example:

·        Combining hollow drill bits and vacuums to reduce cleaning time and speed up installation

·        Adaptive torque system to make work simple on fastening applications

·        Dispensing tools that ensure the right amount of adhesive is used for safe, low-waste installations.

Value engineered designs

Our user-friendly PROFIS Engineering Suite design software helps you automatically optimise the design of a structural baseplate in PROFIS Engineering using our Smart Design tool to reduce the steel needed.

Other advantages include:

·        Assistance designing substructures with optimal load-to-weight ratios

·        Decrease in the total number of required components

·        Reduced weight, cost and carbon footprint of your project elements

More sustainable structural connections

You can cut waste by up to 30% with our cordless adhesive anchor dispenser which allows you to reduce your CO2 emissions and material use by downsizing baseplate dimensions and anchor sizes.

These benefits cover a range of applications, including:

·        Baseplates

·        Rebar

·        Strengthening

·        Façades

·        Decking

·        Timber

We can also help you optimise your application’s load-to-weight calculations to further reduce your CO2 emissions, and give you access to a full library of environmental product declarations (EPDs) to support your green building certification.

Support systems

You can utilise our support systems across a range of applications so that designers and installers can benefit from faster, simpler and safer job site practices in the following areas:

·        Mechanical/HVAC

·        Electrical

·        Plumbing and piping

·        Multidiscipline MEP

·        Substructures

·        Platforms and pathways

With over 1,200 engineers and technical professionals around the world, we offer services, training and assistance to help you design and install all those systems perfectly.

Fire protection

Our approach to firestop solutions also includes simpler and more intuitive installation methods, and are suitable for various applications.

·        MEP penetrations

·        Construction joints

·        Façade and curtain walls

·        Steel protection

Our design services help you specify firestop solutions for MEP penetrations that are code-compliant with lower total cost of ownership.

In addition, we provide a portfolio of dry and wet firestop solutions for mechanical, electrical and multi-trade penetration openings – including a wide range of fire-rated approvals that also feature attributes for watertightness, acoustics and movement capabilities.

And with dry preformed solutions there are fewer installation steps compared to other solutions.

When our customers adopt our SPEC2SITE solutions we're confident we can be their best partner for productivity, safety, and sustainability.
